To all who stumble upon this, welcome to my kingdom.
The Fandoms Queen Blogs was a long-time coming project founded in January 2016 as a place featuring reviews of every book, TV show and movie that caught my interest and leaves a lasting impression, good and bad. While exploring, you will find book reviews, episode recaps, Top 10 lists, entertainment/social media news, topics on famous celebrities from certain franchises, marathon events, book recommendations and (depending on time schedules) a weekly/monthly special called the Nostalgia Hour, where I watch, review and discuss my personal opinion and thoughts on TV shows and movies from earlier years, and so much more.
ABOUT ME:
My name is Jessica, but I prefer Jessie.
I was the only girl among 7 children, quite literally the middle child. When I wasn't playing indoor football, kicking a soccer ball in the street or watching TV with my brothers -- I was reading. It's one of the only things I could do that guaranteed me personal time and which allowed me to have peace and quiet from the chaos that was my home. Throughout the years, I have acquired an astounding number of books, thanks to yard sales, thrift shops, bookstores and the for-sale section at my town library. Were you to look at my book shelves, no doubt you would be thinking three things:
1) How did you fit all those books on there?
2) How much money -- total -- did you spend to get these many books?
3) Have you read all of them?
Firstly, I can't answer the first question. Not when logic dictates my shelves should've collapsed a long time ago from the weight of all those books.
Secondly, even if I had kept count of how much I spent each time I brought home books throughout the years, I wouldn't admit it to anyone. I won't lie, I'm an impulsive book buyer.
Third, I won't lie, there's plenty of books on my shelves that I've bought years ago and haven't read even once. But I've made a New Year's Resolution to get started on that, if only because I need more book space and I have to get rid of those books that interested me when I got them but have since lost their appeal.
I don't discriminate when it comes to books -- I'll read anything recommended to me, be it manga, science-fiction, horror, classics, romance, dark comedy, fantasy, paranormal and so much more.
I'm the same with TV shows and movies. I'm the kind of girl who can enjoy a spine-chilling horror movie, switch to sitcom's from the 90's, and then binge-watch a favorite TV show like Dexter or How I Met Your Mother.
Basically, I'm a fangirl of everything that piques my interest, and I'm always looking for something new to watch or read. While I do listen to other people's reviews on certain books, authors, TV shows and movies, I like to form my own opinion. So even if something recommended to me has received lukewarm praise and criticism, don't expect me to follow the crowd.
